A robber threatened another man with a knife and stole his mobile phone in a mugging in Brighton.
The thug demanded cash but the 19-year-old victim didn’t have any on him so the mugger ran off with his phone.
The robbery happened in New England Street, Brighton, while the victim was waiting for a friend between 11.30pm and 11.45pm on Saturday (3 January).
The mugger stole the victim’s HTC One Mini mobile phone and ran off up New England road under the viaduct, Sussex Police said.
He was described as white, in mid twenties, 5ft 8in tall and of slim build with short blond hair. He was wearing dark-coloured bottoms and trainers.
Detective Constable Ed Downes said: “The victim was uninjured but shaken by the robbery.”
Anyone who saw the robbery or who has information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
