Fire damaged a Brighton tower block and led to dozens of people being evacuated in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 31 December).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Preston Circus, in Brighton, and Hove to tackle the blaze on the 16th floor.
They were joined by West Sussex firefighters based in Shoreham after the blaze was reported shortly before 1am.
The fire damaged a flat on the 16th floor and those on the four floors below.
The building, in St Margaret’s Place, Brighton, was evacuated. No one was injured.
Investigators are trying to establish the cause of the fire although early indications suggest that it may have been the result of an electrical fault.
