The Bishop of Chichester Martin Warner is to join hundreds of children from St Andrew’s CE Primary School in Hove for their annual Christingle service.
The service is due to take place in St Andrew’s Church tomorrow (Tuesday 2 December) – two days after St Andrew’s Day.
Although a relatively recent tradition, the Christingle service is one of the most popular services in the church calendar.
The bishop has just returned from leading 62 people on a seven-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land, taking in Galilee and Jerusalem.
He is due to attend another church in Hove in a few weeks’ time – St Barnabas, in Sackville Road.
The bishop is due at the institution and induction of the Reverend Lawrence Maclean as the new incumbent on Thursday 18 December.
Mr Maclean is expected to allocate half his time to the parish and half to his role as diocesan development officer.
At St Barnabas he succeeds Father Keith Richards who also served as the Rural Dean of Hove.
