A driver crashed what is believed to have been a stolen car in Hove this evening (Monday 17 November) and ran off before the police arrived.
The incident – described on Twitter as a hit and run – blocked Holmes Avenue in Hangleton for about an hour.
One resident said that a speeding Renault Megane crashed into a parked BMW at about 8.15pm, leaving both cars badly damaged.
He said that it looked as though the Renault had been stolen. It had a big hole where the ignition should have been.
Officers from Sussex Police attended the incident.
