Hundreds of people turned out to watch the Christmas lights in Brighton switched on in East Street last night (Thursday 13 November).
Stage acts and street entertainers performed for the crowds along with presenters from the Juice 107.2 radio station.
Domestic and General, one of Brighton’s biggest private sector employers, sponsored the event.
Nicki Perry, from D&G, said: “We’re very excited to be involved in this wonderful city event again.
“When the lights go on, you know Christmas is on its way. There’s simply no better way to kick off the festive season in the city.”
The family-friendly event marks the annual switch on for the largest festive lighting display on the south coast.
The lights are provided for the main shopping streets by Brilliant Brighton, a collective of 517 businesses in the heart of the city.
The organiser Gavin Stewart, from Brilliant Brighton, said beforehand: “We are over the moon to have Domestic and General and Juice 107.2 on board again for this year’s switch on event.
“We’ve got some surprises lined up this year, some great prizes and of course the lights themselves.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone down to East Street to celebrate the start of the festive season with us in style.”
