An extractor fan started a kitchen fire at an address in Roedale Road at last night.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 9.40pm and used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and carbon dioxide to quench the flames.
There are no reports of injuries and the fire was accidental.
