A Hove man has been given sentenced to carry out community service after he admitted vehicle tampering.
Jesse Martin Akehurst, 33, of Egmont Road, Hove, was accused of “interfering with a motor vehicle” in Hollingdean Road, Brighton, on Sunday 24 August.
The Crown Prosecution Service said that Akehurst intended either to steal the vehicle or something in it. He was charged under the Criminal Attempts Act.
He pleaded guilty to the offence at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (25 September).
The court ordered that he should carry out 60 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months and pay £250 compensation.
I very much hope the entire court then burst into a rousing chorus of “What’s he gonna look like with a chimney on?” #tamperer
