A day centre in Brighton is asking for donations to help keep homeless people warm this winter.
Brighton Housing Trust’s First Base day centre said that it needed essential items to help rough sleepers survive the cold weather as temperatures dropped.
First Base made the appeal because stocks of basic items were running increasingly low. Essentials include socks, jumpers and coats, thermals, hats and fleeces.
First Base deputy manager Claudine Cohen said: “As the winter months begin to draw in, our clients are in desperate need of warm clothing and other essentials like flasks and toiletries to help them to get through the winter months.
“First Base Day Centre has an Amazon Wish List where supporters can purchase items to help homeless men and women over the coming months.
“You can view the wish list and donate by visiting http://amzn.to/1aRjdYj.”
“First Base works with up to 100 homeless, insecurely housed and vulnerable men and women every day, providing a range of services from work and learning opportunities to advice, medical services, nutritious food, showers and laundry facilities.”
