Solar energy pioneer Howard Johns is to share his insights into giving power to the people in a talk in Brighton this evening (Tuesday 30 September).
Mr Johns, the managing director of Southern Solar and former chairman of the Solar Trade Association, will speak about community energy schemes.
His company fitted the Brighton Energy Co-op’s solar panels at Shoreham Harbour.
And Mr Johns helped to set up Ovesco (the Ouse Valley Energy Saving Company), Britain’s first community-owned solar energy scheme, which generates power on the roof of Harvey’s Brewery.
He has a book on community energy coming out called Energy Revolution: Your guide to making it happen.
Mr Johns’s Power to the People talk is the third in a series organised by Community Energy South, an umbrella group of organisations which have come together to promote community energy projects.
The event, from 7pm to 9pm, is due to take place at the Brighthelm Centre, in North Road, Brighton.
Tickets cost £5 on the door or £3 for concessions. To reserve a place, click here and fill in the online form.
