Last week’s silent storm off the south coast caught the imagination of thousands of readers of Brighton and Hove News.
This stunning photograph of the cloud in which the storm was contained show just how incredible it actually was.
The picture is one of a set by Kevin Long of Kevin and Rae photography which can be viewed on their Facebook page here.
The lightning storm, on 19 September, moved up the channel eastwards. It was not accompanied by rain or even thunder.
I find the remark “It was not accompanied by rain, or even thunder” a bit misleading. I witnessed the storm and as you mention, it was mid-channel. So of course there was thunder, it was just a little too far away to be heard. And there was very heavy rain associated with it.
