Brighton commuters are facing a third day of severe delays after a person was hit by a train at Wivelsfield.
The incident happened at about 6.3opm this evening, and trains came to a standstill between Preston Park and Haywards Heath as a result.

Replacement buses were provided between Haywards Heath and south coast destinations. The line was cleared and running once more by 8pm, but delays continued into the evening.

This is the second time a person has been hit by a train on the Brighton mainline this week.
On Monday, a 39-year-old Brighton man died at Preston Park Station.
Yesterday, passengers were faced with significant delays after a signal failure at Haywards Heath.
