Olivia Pinkney has been promoted to become the new deputy chief constable of Sussex.
She joined the police straight from university, having studied at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge.
She has worked in Sussex since 2009 when she joined as assistant chief constable. Having worked in policing since 1991 when she joined Avon and Somerset Constabulary, where her roles included police commander for Bath and head of Special Branch.
When Giles York was promoted from deputy chief constable to the top job, she became temporary deputy chief constable.
Mr York said: “As deputy chief constable, Olivia forms a vital part of the chief officer team, ensuring the force can deliver on the priorities identified by our police and crime commissioner Katy Bourne.
“When we launched this recruitment procedure, we advertised for someone who has a proven track record of being an inspirational leader, someone who is passionate about diversity and equality and, fundamentally, committed to serving the people of Sussex.
“I am in no doubt that we have found the right candidate for the job.”
DCC Pinkney said: “I am delighted to be appointed to the post and be part of the team delivering excellent policing for the people of Sussex.”
“She joined the police straight from university, having studied at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge” – ah, worked her way up from the ranks, good honest graft, no freemasonic shortcuts…. whither Juliet Bravo??
So comforted that we are being protected by such a person who is so obviously experienced in the way of the world
