Hove MP Mike Weatherley is urging promising musicians to enter the annual Rock the House competition – the largest parliamentary contest.
At the same time Film the House is also open for entries, with Mr Weatherley praising the young talent showcased at a House of Commons reception earlier in the summer.
He said that the competitions had two key aims – to promote creative talent and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting intellectual property rights among the public and law-makers.
Having got the ball rolling at Westminster shortly after he was elected in 2010, he is now taking the contest to an even wider audience.
He told an event in Westminster on Wednesday evening (10 September) that it was being replicated in the European Parliament, the Australian Parliament and the US Congress.
He won praise from international rock star Rick Wakeman who took to the stage to thank Mr Weatherley for staging the competitons.
Mr Weatherley, the intellectual property adviser to the Prime Minister David Cameron, is standing down at the general election in May next year.
But his Conservative colleague Nigel Adams will, if re-elected, keep the competition going. It offers the prize of a recording contract and a chance to play in a reception at the House of Commons.
The 2015 winner – in a break with tradition and to mark the start of the contest in American – will play at a reception at the US ambassador’s private residence next spring.
