Swindon Town 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 4 (AET)
Albion beat Swindon in an exciting League Cup tie in Wiltshire.
Albion scored first after 10 minutes with a brilliant 20-yard dipping volley from Rohan Ince.
The goal was set up by new signing Adrian Colunga.
Albion had to hold firm for the rest of the half, with Lewis Dunk making a series of goal-saving tackles and Jake Forster-Caskey clearing off the line.
Swindon equalised almost from the kick-off in the second half as Louis Thompson fired past Casper Ankergren.
That’s the way it stayed until full time. Then five minutes into extra time Colunga scored from the edge of the six-yard box to put Albion back in front.
Five minutes later Albion were awarded a penalty and Jake Forster-Caskey converted to put Albion 3-1 up.
Halfway through the second period former Albion reserve Yaser Kasim put Swindon back in contention with a well taken goal.
But right at the end Albion were awarded a second penalty which again Forster-Caskey converted.
As they await the 3rd round draw, in-form Albion can look forward to hosting Charlton Athletic at the Amex this Saturday (30 August) in the Championship.
However, Seagulls fans won’t be dreaming of hosting the once mighty Manchester United in the League Cup third round as the Reds lost away at Milton Keynes Dons 4-0.
