An investigation has been launched into an alleged racist incident outside Whitehawk FC’s ground by a supporter of Ebbsfleet United.
Whitehawk beat Ebbsfleet 1-0 at The Enclosed Ground in East Brighton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Following the game, a Whitehawk supporter wrote to the Kent club saying an Ebbsfleet supporter behaved in a racist way outside the ground.
Last night, a statement appeared on the Ebbsfleet United website saying an investigation has been launched.
It said: “The club has today received a written allegation from a supporter of Whitehawk FC regarding alleged racist behaviour by a supporter of Ebbsfleet United FC outside the Whitehawk stadium following yesterday’s match.
“The club will be launching an investigation tomorrow (Monday) into the incident. It is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Peter Varney at the club on 01474 533796.
“The club does not tolerate any racism or discrimination and fully supports the efforts of Kick It Out and the importance of a multi-faith/multi-cultural society which is at the heart of our own community.”
The investigation follows a tweet posted by a Whitehawk fans account, @comeonyouhawks:
Excellent racist banter from @EUFCofficial fan on the way home. What a shame

It added the claim that fans had chanted “Are you a Muslim in disguise?”
The club’s statement was greeted with approval by another fan, @GoldstoneRose:
Well done to @EUFCofficial to prompt response to racism. Well done guys. #kickitout
