Vandals are thought to have torn down branches on a large elm tree which overlooks the playground at Queen’s Park.
Tree surgeons sawed off the branches this morning after they were found snapped and hanging down.
Residents had reported hearing loud noises coming from the area in the early hours of the morning.
The Vandals must have had huge machinery to tear down these branches. Suggest the previous vandals that stuck the swing on the broken branches might have had more to do with it. Who was stupid enough to put a swing in such a rare tree?

Well you’d actually have to be reasonably smart to recognise an elm and know it was rare – most stupid people wouldn’t know an oak from a cyress leylandii!

cypress, even.
Anyways, the nice thing about trees is that you can always plant more…
