Brighton and Hove Albion centre back Aaron Hughes is wary of the threat from Cheltenham Town in the Capital One Cup tie at the Amex this evening (Tuesday 12 August).
Hughes said that he had experienced being an underdog in his international career.
He has often battled against the odds playing for Northern Ireland and knows the feeling of claiming victory against more fancied opposition.
He told the Albion website seagulls.co.uk: “We maybe have a bit more to lose.
“I experienced being an underdog with Northern Ireland so I know the attitude going into these games and how nice it felt when we did cause an upset.
“They’ll be coming here with that attitude of having nothing to lose and they’ll make it a tough test for us. We have to be ready for that and now need to focus on how the manager wants us to play.
“We can’t leave anything in the changing room and need to give everything on the pitch otherwise we’ll be heading out of the competition.
“If we prepare properly then it can only improve our chances of winning games.”
The club today posted a reminder to fans that the usual park and ride is not in operation this evening.
