Will Brighton and Hove Albion winger Will Buckley sign for West Bromwich Albion? Or will he follow Liam Bridcutt and join former boss Gus Poyet at Sunderland?
Poyet paid £1 million to sign Buckley for the Seagulls from Watford in June 2011. The winger’s impending departure has exercised a number of football reporters over the past few days.
Offers of about £2.5 million have been received for the 24-year-old but Brighton are believed to be holding out for a transfer of £3 million.
He has scored 19 times in 96 games for the club, opening his account with both strikes in the 2-1 win against Doncaster Rovers – Albion’s first League goals at the Amex.
With the Premiership season starting on Saturday, at least two other managers are hoping he might repeat the feat for them elsewhere.
Earlier this year Tony Pulis was reported to have put in an offer on behalf of Crystal Palace.
While many fans would be sad to see the back of Buckley – who came on as a sub on Saturday as he did in the opening fixture at the Amex – they would be happier to see him head to Albion – West Bromwich Albion – or even Sunderland than off to Selhurst Park.
