Three men were attacked by thugs who shouted homophobic and racial abuse during the Pride party in Preston Park on Saturday.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the attack, which left one of the victims unconscious.
The three men and one woman were sat on the grass near the Hog Roast vans at about 4.50pm when two men started to urinate close by. When the men were asked to use the toilets, they became aggressive and a fight broke out.
One of the victims, a 44-year-old man, was punched in the face and knocked out. The other two victims, a 32-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, chased the suspects and were assaulted themselves.
During this incident, the suspects are described as using racial and homophobic abuse towards two of the victims. All three were treated at the scene by St John Ambulance staff suffering from cuts and bruises.
Detective constable Chris Bishop said: “The two suspects are described as being white men in their 20s or 30s with Irish accents. One of them was topless and had tattoos on his body and the other was wearing a blue vest top.
“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are appealing to anyone with information or saw what happened to speak to us on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting 1901 of 2/8.”
