A prisoner who escaped Brighton’s Royal Sussex Hospital and is still at large was waiting to be sentenced for a knifepoint robbery.
Jamie Stephen Halifax, who has a large tattoo spelling “Lauren” on his neck, was last seen running along Bristol Gate on the east side of the hospital.
A Prison Service has been launched since he absconded at about 12.40am on Sunday morning from the hospital, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
On 5 June, Halifax, 25, was convicted of robbery and possessing an offensive weapon and had been on remand at HMP Lewes awaiting sentence on a date to be fixed when he escaped.
Officers attended and launched an extensive search, but at this time Halifax is still at large.
He is described as white, 5ft 4in-5ft 8in, of slim build and with shaven brown hair. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a light blue t-shirt and white trainers.
Anyone seeing Halifax, or who may know of his whereabouts, is asked not to approach him but to call Sussex Police, either by dialling 999 if immediately in view, by phoning 101 or by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting serial 79 of 27/14.
