A drink driver has been banned from getting behind the wheel after being caught by officers from Sussex Police in Brighton.
Steven Whylie, 28, was arrested after his almost new white Vauxhall Astra mounted the kerb in Old Steine, Brighton, at 4.20am on Sunday 1 June.
Whylie, of Bayes Close, in Sydenham, London, pleaded guilty when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 17 July) charged with drink driving.
The court was told that he had 64 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – almost twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
Whylie was banned from driving for 17 months but told that the ban would be cut by 17 weeks if he completed a government-approved course. The course could cost up to £250.
He was also fined £110 and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
