A 22-year-old woman from Brighton was seriously injured in a car crash on the seafront in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 8 July).
She was the passenger in a Renault Clio which overturned in a crash with a Mini at the junction of Madeira Drive and Duke’s Mound in Brighton.
She was trapped under the car. Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service cut her free.
An ambulance took her and the Renault driver, a 24-year-old man from Crawley, to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after the crash which happened just after 3.30am today. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
The driver, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested as was the 19-year-old man from Angmering who was driving the Mini.
Sussex Police held the Mini driver on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and the Renault driver on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a car.
