A fire has destroyed the prop store for the long-running Brighton satirical theatre company the Treason Show.
The one of the show’s stars Mark Brailsford, who has also directed performances for the past 13 years, said: “The prop store for the Treason Show was my Mum and Dad’s garage in Lancing and that went up in flames on Sunday.
“My Mum and Dad were safe which was the main thing.
“But the fire destroyed everything including a much-loved Zippy puppet, Patrick Moore’s wings and the Queen’s dress which we’ve been using for years.
“That was a handcrafted Zippy puppet which took a professional prop maker about a week to make.
“We’re contemplating holding a fundraiser to replenish our props.
“In the meantime the show will go on even if I have to appear naked!”
The next Treason Show performance takes place at the Ropetackle in Shoreham on Saturday 12 July.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that fire crews were sent to tackle the blaze in Monks Avenue, Lancing, just after 7.30pm on Sunday evening (22 June).
The fire service said that the garage was completely destroyed in the fire which started accidentally.
