Firefighters are due to strike again today between 10am and 3pm over proposed government changes to their pensions.
It will be the third consecutive day of strike action after strikes between noon and 5pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday until 2am today and the 12th period since the dispute began.
Contingency fire crews will again respond to life-threatening emergencies as they did during the previous two strikes.
During yesterday’s strike, between 2pm and 2am this morning, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews attended several incidents including these ones in Brighton:
2.08pm – A crash in Tongdean Lane, Withdean, Brighton, involving a car and a motorbike. No action required at the scene, with police and paramedics attending.
8.26pm – A property in Brighton to assist with isolating the electricity supply following flooding and again at 9.12pm isolated the electricity supply in Elm Grove, Brighton.
7.25pm – Fire in fish and chip shop in Trafalgar Road, Portslade. A member of the public received minor burns and was looked after by paramedics.
11.21pm to 11.33pm – A flooding where they isolated the electricity supply. They were also sent to a rubbish bin fire, an automatic fire alarm, as well as investigating the smell of smoke in a domestic property.
