New pictures have just been released of First Capital Connect’s newest train being put through its climactic paces before being unleashed on the Brighton to Bedford line.
The new Class 700 train has has been frozen to temperatures as low as -25C and as high as 40C, subjected to 100mph winds and drenched with “rain”.
The new train is being developed by Siemens, which is working with the train operator and the UK government as part of the Thameslink Programme.
This will see 12-carriage trains running over the network, more than doubling the number of carriages and providing 80% more peak seats between Blackfriars and St Pancras.
