A violent serial offender has been jailed for 14 years after an aggravated burglary during which a couple were left in fear of their lives.
Luke Maddran, 27, of Brighton Road, Worthing, and another man forced their way into the pair’s flat in Portland Road, Hove, in September last year.
One of the burglars had a baseball bat and the pair threatened a man and a woman, attacking the man and leaving him with minor injuries.
Although Maddran pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and is behind bars, he has not named the other man who, Sussex Police said, remains at large.
Lewes Crown Court was told that the police were able to identify Maddran by his fingerprints which he left at the scene.
He and his accomplice stole a camera, laptops, £1,500 cash and suitcases full of DJ gear, the court was told.
Detective Constable Brad Lozynski said: “Maddran was a serial offender who had no problem using violence to get what he wanted.
“He and his accomplice, who we are still trying to identify, subjected their victims to a terrifying ordeal in which they feared for their lives.
“Good use of intelligence and forensic techniques helped us catch and convict Maddran which makes sure we will not see him in Sussex for many years.”
Sussex Police asked anyone with information about the second man to call 101, quoting serial 72 of 15/9/13, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
