A man has been charged following a reported shoplifting incident in Brighton.
Sussex Police said that officers were called to the Co-op in St James’s Street around 5pm on Monday 31 March.
Melvin Cochran, 31, unemployed, of Crest Way, Portslade, was charged with theft, racially aggravated common assault and a public order offence.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 2 April where he was remanded in custody to re-appear on Thursday 3 July.
