Four organisations in the third sector – or charitable sector – in Brighton and Hove have formally merged.
The four have created a new representative body called Community Works. They were previously the
- Community and Voluntary Sector Forum (CVSF)
- Volunteer Centre
- Performance Development Service
- Skills Exchange
Community Works said that it would “help organisations and individuals across Brighton and Hove make as big a difference as possible to local lives and issues”.
It planned to target “anyone from community groups and voluntary organisations and volunteers to businesses and public sector organisations – anyone who wants to give their time, expertise and energy towards making our city a better place for everyone”.
The merger and the new organisation were celebrated at a reception last night (Wednesday 27 November) at Community Base in Queen’s Road, Brighton.
The reception followed a conference earlier in the day when the focus was on “creating a sector manifesto”.
It was intended to bring together an outline of who the sector is, what it does, its values and its ambitions for the future.
