The body of a man has been found washed ashore in Peacehaven ten days after a man went missing in the sea in Brighton.
Sussex Police said yesterday (Thursday 17 October): “At about 4.40pm on Monday 14 October the body of an unclothed man, described as black, of stocky build, with a distinctive tattoo on his right upper arm and with a short beard, was found on rocks on the shore below Cliff Avenue, Peacehaven, having apparently been washed ashore.
“The body has not yet been identified.
“Police, who are not treating the death as suspicious, are working with the coroner’s officer to establish the man’s identity and are considering the possibility that he may be the same man who was seen to run into the sea at Brighton on (Friday) 4 October.
“The tattoo comprises a large angel-style wing and words including ‘As I walk through the valley of death I shall forever’. Other words are not decipherable.”
Anyone who may know the man is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or email contact.centre@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
