A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 31-year-old Brighton woman was found dead in her flat.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was found on Sunday morning (25 August) in the lounge of her home in Barclay House, a block of flats in Wellington Road, Brighton.
Sussex Police said that further post-mortem tests would be carried out to try to find out she died after initial tests proved inconclusive.
Police have released the arrested man, who was known to the woman, on bail until Friday 29 November.
Detective Inspector Wendy Burton, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said that the woman’s death was being treated as suspicious and that forensic experts had examined the flat.
She said: “Officers are continuing with local inquiries and I would appeal to any local residents who have information that could help us with the investigation, no matter how relevant they think it is, to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
