A 61-year-old motorcyclist from Hove has been seriously injured in a crash on the A23 just south of Hickstead.
Sussex Police said that the man, who was riding a red Yamaha, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash with a silver Peugeot 307 at about 5.30pm yesterday (Sunday 18 August).
An air ambulance landed on the southbound side of the A23.
The motorcyclist was treated at the scene then taken by road to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 34-year-old woman from Bexhill, was treated at the scene for a minor neck injury.
The southbound side of the road was closed for three and a half hours while the victim was treated and the accident scene was investigated and cleared.
The northbound A23 remained open.
