Two neighbouring houses are for sale together in an exclusive street in Hove for £6.5 million.
The properties, in Tongdean Place, are six-bedroom detached houses at the end of a gated lane, according to a report in the Brighton and Hove Independent.
In this week’s issue, the free weekly newspaper said: “In a supermarket, you normally get two for the price of one. In the property market, there’s no such thing.
“In Tongdean Place, a haven of tranquillity down a gated lane off Dyke Road, two of the city’s most exquisite homes have gone on sale – at the same time and together.
“Because they are a twin, it would be a shame to split them. So you can have them both – for just £6.5 million.
“However you cut it, the price tag means that each one could end up being the most expensive residential property to be sold in Brighton and Hove.
“First, the details (forgive the estate-agent talk): six-bedroom detached houses, located in one of the best addresses in Hove (BN3 6QW, since you ask), built as a matching pair in 2001 and owned since then by business partners Paul Hazeldine and Dave Roberts, both property developers.
“Each home has about 5,000sq ft of living space in an acre of land. There are panoramic views of the city and the sea from the south-facing gardens.
“If you need to know more: four bathrooms, large reception hallway, five reception rooms, Clive Christian studies, beautifully fitted kitchens, a utility room, games room, additional rooms – and so on and on.
“One of the houses has an outdoor swimming pool. The other has a garden mainly laid to lawn.”
The two properties are on the market with Hamptons. Paul Taggart, manager of the Hove branch, said: “It’s an unbelievable location, with two cracking properties.”
The current owners are selling because their families have grown up, having deliberately bought neighbouring homes because they wanted to live next door to each other.
Meanwhile, though, the Tongdean Place homes will have to be quick to cling on to the title of most expensive house in Brighton and Hove.
Mishon MacKay has a nine-bedroom property in Withdean on the market for £4 million.
