A 26-year-old man was stabbed in the arm and back outside a venue on Brighton seafront at the weekend.
The local man was attacked shortly after he left the Volks bar and club, formerly known as the Volks Tavern, with friends.
He was sitting on steps near the club when two men came up and asked if they could buy some drugs in the early hours of Saturday (3 August).
A woman and another man joined the group, Sussex Police said, adding: “There was an altercation and the victim was stabbed in the arm and back.”
Detective Sergeant Emily Hoare said: “There were a number of people outside the club who may have witnessed the stabbing which happened just before 3am.
“The victim suffered a minor cut to his back but his wrist may require surgery because of damaged tendons.”
Anyone who saw the attack is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested for assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) and bailed until Friday 23 August. Another man is being sought.
