Two or three men attacked and robbed a 34-year-old as he walked along Hove seafront early on Saturday (27 July).
The victim, who lives locally, was walking along the promenade opposite Grand Avenue, Hove, at about 12.30am on Saturday when the robbery happened.
He was struck from behind and pinned to the ground by two or three men. While he was down the men took his iPhone 4S and earphones. The men then ran off.
Sussex Police said that detectives would like to speak to anyone with any information about the incident, in particular a man called Carl who was near by.
He came up and spoke to the victim shortly after the mugging but went off without leaving his details.
The victim suffered grazing to his shoulder, elbow and hands but did not need hospital treatment.
Detective Constable Steve Amner said: “Anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information is asked to contact us.”
