A fire damaged an empty shop in Western Road in Brighton late yesterday afternoon (Monday 22 July).
The empty Classical Lighting shop on the northern side of the street, near Norfolk Square, was being refurbished.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that the fire appeared to have been started by paint-stripping in the timber-fronted area of the four-storey building.
Two crews from Preston Circus in Brighton were sent to tackle the blaze just before 5pm.
The crews put out the fire out and left the scene about half an hour later.
There were no reports of anyone being injured by the blaze.
