A Brighton police officer has handed over a £300 donation to St Patrick’s Homeless Hostel in Cambridge Road, Hove.
The donation was accepted by Tom Bradshaw from the hostel and will go towards funding Freeview boxes and television for the residents.
The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund which is made up of money received by the police from property confiscated by order of the courts and then sold.
PC Andrea Leahy said: “We are delighted to be able to provide this donation.
“Homelessness is a distressing situation to be in and it can often be difficult for people to readjust to living off the streets.
“Being able to watch TV, something that most of us take for granted, provides residents with the ability to reconnect with current issues and everyday life.”
Candice Monaghan, from the Church Housing Trust, which runs the hostel, added: “We are very grateful to Sussex Police for thinking of St Patrick’s and helping homeless people in the area.
“Donations like this help turn a hostel into a home.”
