Cardiff City 0 Brighton & Hove Albion 2
The Albion beat the Championship leaders in their own back yard with goals in each half from Andrea Orlandi and Leo Ulloa.
But the star of the show was Albion goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak. The pole made superb saves from Craig Bellamy and ex-Albion player Craig Noone.
Then a mistake from Dean Hammond put Bellamy clear through again but Kuszczak expertly deflected the ball almost off the striker’s foot.
Orlandi turned in a cross from David Lopez to put Albion in front at half time.
In the second half Cardiff threw everything at the Seagulls but, despite a few scares as the Bluebirds hit the woodwork twice, the Albion held on.
In the six minutes of stoppage time Ulloa scored his first league goal for the club to put the result beyond doubt.
The Albion are now two points behind Middlesbrough who occupy the last play-off place. However, the Seagulls have a game in hand.
