A man was attacked in the centre of Brighton in the early hours of Saturday (2 February).
The victim, a 22-year-old man from Brighton, got off a bus with friends in Old Steine at about 1.30am.
A man, who was with two other men, said something racially abusive to the victim and a fight followed.
The victim was hit on the head with a bottle and the three men then ran off north along the Old Steine.
The 22-year-old man was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for cuts to his face and head.
Sussex Police issued descriptions of the three men.
One was described as a slim white man, 5ft 10in tall, in his late teens or early twenties, and with blond hair cut above his ears.
The second suspect was described as a slim white man, 5ft 11in tall, also in his late teens or early twenties, and with short thick wavy hair. He was wearing a red chequered shirt.
The third man was described as 6ft tall, with an average build and also in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a print on the front.
