The number of people in Brighton and Hove claiming jobseeker’s allowance fell slightly last month, according to figures published today (Wednesday 23 January).
The figure for the three parliamentary constituencies combined was 6,410 in December, down from 6,479 in November.
In Brighton Kemptown the claimant count last month was 2,233, or 3.8 per cent, down 4 from 2,237, or 3.9 per cent, in November.
In Brighton Pavilion the claimant count last month was 2,091, 2.9 per cent, down from 2,136, or 3 per cent, in November.
And in Hove the claimant count last month was 2,086, or 3.3 per cent, down from 2,106, also 3.3 per cent, in November.
The claimant count for the area served by Brighton and Hove City Council last month stood at 6,057, or 3.1 per cent, down from 6,136, or 3.2 per cent, a month before.
