Almost 300 youngsters were praised at a presentation ceremony at Hove Town Hall last night (Thursday 29 November).
They were recognised for achieving the bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) Awards.
Many of the youngsters took part in the scheme through their school or college.
They included Blatchington Mill, Brighton and Hove High, Brighton College, Cardinal Newman, Dorothy Stringer, Downs View Link, Hamilton Lodge, Longhill, Roedean and Varndean.
Others took part through ACE, Albion in the Community, the Hangleton DofE Open Centre, Portslade Village Centre and Sussex Central YMCA.
They were told that a recent survey found that Britain’s biggest employers ranked the DofE scheme as the most important activity undertaken at school.
