A woman fought off a man who dragged her into an alleyway and robbed her near the Seven Dials in Brighton.
She was lost while on her way to friends when the attack happened at about 3.40am on Sunday (11 November).
The 26-year-old woman screamed and fought the man when he grabbed her by in Dyke Road, near the junction with Compton Avenue.
Her screaming alerted neighbours and the attacker ran off, taking her iPhone with him.
The mans asked to was described as olive skinned, in his mid twenties, slim and up to 6ft tall.
Detective Constable Jane Walker said: “The woman had got lost and found herself in Dyke Road after walking from the city centre through Clifton Hill and the Montpelier area.
“I am asking anyone if they saw her. She was wearing a distinctive bomber-style black leather jacket with thick beige fur trim on the collar and cuffs and a black skirt.
“She might have been followed or perhaps there was a man acting suspiciously in the area.
“Do you recognise the man we have described?”
