A 19-year-old suffered cuts to his neck in a fight in Brighton on Friday (12 October).
He had injuries that Sussex Police said were consistent with being attacked with a broken bottle.
He was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but was discharged soon afterwards.
The fight, which involved several people, took place in Old Steine at about 3.30am on Friday.
A 19-year old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 21-year old man from North London was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Both were later released on police bail until Sunday 9 December while inquiries continue.
Detective Constable Steve Amner said: “There were many people in the area at the time and we would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.”
Witnesses are asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
