Gas works have closed a busy Brighton street for three days.
St James’s Street is shut between Broad Street and Madeira Place from today (Monday 15 October).
Southern Gas Networks is laying a new main and three gas supplies to a property in the street.
It said that the work was expected to take three days to complete.
At the same time BT contractors will be working in St James’s Street to replace some cables between Broad Street and Madeira Place.
Buses are being diverted.
Roadworks at the bottom of Coldean Lane at the junction with the A270 Lewes Road are expected to end this week.
The traffic lights are being reconfigured to try to make the junction safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
The work is due to be finished on Friday (19 October).
