A man who was arrested on suspicion of a hit and run on Brighton seafront has been remanded by a court.
Christopher Chan, 31, who is unemployed and has no fixed address, appeared before Eastbourne magistrates charged with other driving offences and a burglary.
Chan admitted stealing a car, driving while disqualified and driving dangerously shortly before he was arrested last Thursday (16 August).
He also admitted failing to provide a specimen for analysis after his arrest on the A27 at Polegate.
In court he was also charged with stealing a Vauxhall Corsa in Hove on Sunday 15 July and burglary at the Wooden Floor Centre in Trafalgar Road, Portslade. He did not enter a plea when he appeared before magistrates on Saturday (18 August).
Sussex Police bailed him until Thursday 4 October over the hit and run in King’s Road on Sunday 15 July when Michelle Greest, 29, from Hove, suffered serious injuries.
Michelle was my home help a few years ago and I sent her a card. Was delighted to have one back this week. She was still in hospital and only just starting to try to get walking again – with painful knees as she practises. It’s been nearly 6 weeks.
