A driver has been arrested on suspicion of the hit and run on Brighton seafront that left a 29-year-old woman seriously injured.
Sussex Police said that the driver, a 31-year-old man of no fixed address, was arrested at about 10pm last night for speeding in a stolen car on the A27 at Polegate.
He is accused of knocking over Michelle Greest, from Hove, in King’s Road, by the bottom of West Street, Brighton, at about 4.45am on Sunday 15 July.
She had been on a night out with friends when she was hit by a Volkswagen Passat which failed to stop.
She said last week: “I don’t remember anything about the crash until I woke up in great pain in my hospital bed.
“I have suffered ten breaks to various bones in my body which include my legs, hips and vertebrae and will not be able to walk properly for some time to come.
“Doctors have told me I had two blood clots on my brain and that I am lucky to have not suffered brain damage as a result.”
She remains in the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
The suspect remains in custody where he faces questions about the hit and run and about a ram raid at a flooring shop in Trafalgar Road, Portslade.
