The Clinton Cards shop in Western Road, Brighton, is closing for good today (Friday 8 June) with the loss of six jobs.
The news comes after 24 jobs in Brighton and Hove were saved yesterday (Thursday 7 June) with the sale of the Churchill Square branch in Brighton and the shop in George Street, Hove.
The two stores were among 397 shops sold to Lakeshore Lending, a subsidiary of Clinton’s main supplier American Greetings.Clinton Cards went into administration last month.
The administrators, from corporate recovery specialist Zolfo Cooper, said that the Western Road branch was one of 43 stores to close today.
Last year Zolfo Cooper handled the demise of Sussex Stationers, selling on the rump of the business to WH Smith.
Greedy council, bus companies and parking companies will revert Brighton to its former shell of shops to let. Churchill square wont have any appeal soon.
