A man was attacked and left with head injuries in Brighton early yesterday (Sunday 27 May).
Sussex Police said that attack happened at about 8.35am in Tongdean Lane, Brighton.
The victim was assaulted by a man who is known to him. He was hit on several occasions and it is believed that a blunt weapon may have been involved. However, no weapon has been recovered.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
He has been bailed until Wednesday 8 August while officers carry out further inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Helen Paine, of Brighton and Hove CID, said: “It appears that the victim knew his attacker and the pair had a verbal altercation prior to the incident in Tongdean Lane.
“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about how it started.”
