A 21-year-old Brighton woman suffered a broken jaw in a town centre brawl at the weekend.
A group of six to eight men and women were fighting in North Street, Brighton, when the woman was hit in the early hours of Saturday (24 March).
She was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Sussex Police said: “Three local men, aged 19, 24 and 26, and two local women both aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
“One of the women was also arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.”
Detective Constable Jane Walker said: “This took place towards the lower end of North Street and several passing members of the public stepped in to help the victim.
“If you were one of those people, or if you witnessed what happened please call us on 101.”
Witnesses or anyone with information about the brawl, which happened just after 2am, can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The 24-year-old man, the 26-year-old man and the two women, all from Brighton, have been released on police bail until Thursday 10 May while inquiries continue.
The 19-year old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm, was bailed until Thursday 14 June.
