By Tim Hodges from the Amex Press Briefing.
Gus Poyet said this morning that he would go back to Leeds anytime, but of course not right now.
The Albion boss was commenting on the departure of Simon Grayson. Adding that he thought Leeds were a great club, but he thought Ken Bates had made the wrong decision.
Poyet thinks the Albion will have a tough match against Leicester on Saturday, going on to say that although the Foxes weren’t as good as Newcastle of course, they were not different to Southampton, teams both beaten by the Seagulls recently. The Albion boss does consider though this is not a great time to play the Foxes from the Albion’s point of view.
Poyet praised Liam Bridcutt and acknowledged the accolade made recently in the press that the player was possibly the best defensive midfielder in the Football League.
Albion have almost a full squad available for this Saturdays match only Gary Dicker and Marcos Painter are currently unavailable. Lua Lua will hopefully be involved and Craig Noone has some chance. Mauricio Taricco is also back in Poyet’s selection thoughts, as also now will be Gonzalo Reyes, Joe Mattock and SamVokes.
Toby Adgestein will also lay claims to a place in the sixteen. The Albion boss explained to me why Adgestein had made the breakthrough, saying that Toby has learnt to play as wide front man as well as through the middle, which gives the Albion more options.
Albion’s training pitches are currently rock hard due to the cold weather and this could cause a problem with training schedules over the next few days which in turn could yet determine team selection for Saturday.
