By Tim Hodges from the Amex Press Briefing
Gus Poyet bemoaned the lack of reserve team action the Albion get, saying that it is difficult for players such as Anton Rodgers, Yasser Kassim and Toby Adgestein to make that break through to the match day squad as they are not playing enough or at the required level.
Gus was obviously pleased the Albion youth team beat Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday, stating they would play there (The Amex) again hopefully in the next round.
Regarding Vicente Rodriguez, Poyet said the Spanish star would not be fit to face Burnley and he may seek a replacement type player in the New Year.
The Albion boss suggested the former Spanish International was getting close to full fitness but had suffered numerous setbacks, adding it was a difficult time for the player.
We also learned that Ryan Harley is available for Saturday after tweaking a hamstring and that Adam El Abd almost had to be physically stopped from playing in the reserve game against Torquay at Lancing on Wednesday night.
Earlier I asked Craig Noone to describe the highlight of his season so far. He initially told me it was the atmosphere of the opening game against Doncaster at the Amex, then suddenly and quickly reconsidered it was actually the match against his home town team Liverpool and of course Steven Gerrard.
